The Cook County Earned Sick Leave Ordinance is official. The President of the Board of Commissioners signed the ordinance on October 5, 2016. The county clerk certified it on October 14, 2016.
The signed and certified version is here. It becomes effective July 1, 2017, absent a court challenge. Recall my recent blog noting that the County’s State’s Attorney’s Office had some doubts about the county’s authority to enact this ordinance. I am going to add Cook County to the list of PSL Jurisdictions on the blog’s menu bar and suppress my desire to add a footnote noting a potential legal challenge.
