Noting that the recently-enacted PSL ordinance requires the city to prepare certain notices and to distribute them to employers and employees, Morristown, NJ Mayor Timothy Dougherty postponed the effective date of the Ordinance from October 4, 2016 until January 11, 2017. In his Executive Order, the mayor also noted that additional time is necessary to educate employers and employees about the Ordinance.
The city enacted the Ordinance on September 13, 2016. The initial effective date would have been just three weeks from passage. The new effective date is 120 days from passage which the mayor noted is consistent with the time other municipalities have allowed prior to implementation.
